Enercon launches inland wind turbine

German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon will this month launch a new 2.5 MW turbine with a 115 metre rotor diameter designed for inland locations.

Designed for average wind speeds of 7.5 metres per second and gust intensities of up to 59.5 metres per second, Enercon said that the E-115 is particularly suitable for less windy locations.

The first prototype is to be installed next year and serial production is expected to be launched in 2014.

Enercon will launch the E-115 series at the HUSUM WindEnergy Fair in Germany later this month.
