Kvaerner departs offshore wind business

Kvaerner, the offshore wind foundation firm, has decided to pull out of RWE’s 295 MW Nordsee Ost project at the end of this year, citing commercial challenges.

The Norwegian fabricator said that “engagement in the wind industry will be discontinued" going forward, reports renews Europe.

The RWE contract is currently the subject of arbitration; and the dispute centres on cost escalations in relation to what the fabricator described as post-contractual changes to the scope of work.
