Two Siemens gas turbines commissioned in Saudi Arabia

Two Siemens SGT6-2000E gas turbine units have been commissioned ahead of schedule at the 280 MW Hail-2 Extension-III power plant in the Hail region of Saudi Arabia, said the Germany-based power giant.

Siemens (FWB:SIE) (NYSE:SI) has supplied four SGT6-2000E gas turbines and four generators plus auxiliary equipment totalling 280 MW for the project, aimed at helping to meeting the country’s rocketing electricity demand.

Siemens Energy Fossil Power Generation jointed commissioned the gas turbine units with Alfanar, a local engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, for Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
