Power equipment supply wins for joint venture

  A joint venture between SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPW) and Shanghai Electric has succeeded in winning  $40m worth of coal power equipment supply contracts in China.

  The partnership will provide air cooled condensers (ACC) to the Mengtai, Baota and Zhong Yu power plants.

  The Baota plant, located in the Xinjiang Hui region, is a 2x350MW coal-fired power plant, while the coal-fired Mengtai plant in the Inter Mongolia region is a 2x330MW facility.

SPX chairman, president and CEO Christopher J Kearney said that the company's joint venture with Shanghai Electric was an important step in strengthening its position in China.

"Through our joint venture with Shanghai Electric, we are well positioned to supply the products and services that can help deliver reliable electrical supplies and support China's expanding energy infrastructure," said Kearney.
