France plans €300m renewables hub in Loire Valley

A €300m renewable energy programme involving solar, wind, biomass and geothermal projects is to go ahead in France with funding from European banks.

France’s Centre Region – which includes the Loire Valley – will use the cash to launch a host of renewable projects.

The banks behind the finance are the European Investment Bank, Banque Populaire Val de France et Caisse d’Epargne (BPCE Group) and Credit Agricole.

President of the Centre Region, Francois Bonneau, said the banks’ involvement showed “Europe is giving its backing to a new development marked by the economic management and diversification of energy within an innovative economy, creating sustainable jobs”.
