Colombian grid operator awarded transmission project

Interconexion Electrica SA (ISA), Colombia’s power grid operator, has won a government auction for the construction of a substation and adjacent transmission lines in the country's northeastern Magdalena department.

ISA made a $5m offer, outbidding local consortium Consorcio Project, which comprises 15 firms including Empresa de Energia de Bogota, a state-owned energy group.

The operator will have to design, build, operate and maintain the 220 kV Termocol substation and 220 kV double-circuit power lines, which will be connected to the existing Santa Marta-Termoguajira transmission link.
