European Smart Grid forum appoints UK chairman

A European forum on Smart Grids is to be led by a UK industry leader following the appointment of Energy Networks Association chief executive David Smith as its chairman.

GEODE is a European Group of independent energy distribution and distribution-related companies, as well as other organisations in the gas and electricity sectors.

It was set up to aid the EU development in Smart Grid thinking by sharing expertise and feeding this back to the EU Commission.

Smith said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to chair this group. A Smart Grid is a vital part of our energy future in the UK, and, as an interconnected Europe.”
