Singapore firm to build 1200 MW coal plant in Vietnam

Singapore's Sembcorp Utilities has obtained approval from Vietnam's Quang Ngai provincial government to develop a 1200 MW power plant in the province.

Platts reports that the plant will be built in Quang Ngai province, where Vietnam's first 6.5 million mt/year refinery is located.

Sembcorp is scheduled to invest $2bn to build this coal fired power plant, which is initially scheduled to be put into operation in early 2018 or 2019, according to the provincial government.
