Arcadis named owner’s engineer for Brazil's Belo Monte

Dutch company Arcadis has said its Brazilian subsidiary Arcadis Logos, as part of a consortium, has signed a $146m contract with Norte Energia to provide owner's engineering services to the Belo Monte hydroelectric project in northern Brazil.

With a 35 per cent participation in the consortium, the contract value for Arcadis Logos totals $51m, the company said in a press release.

The consortium will perform design certification, construction management and supervision, planning coordination, expediting and commissioning activities, it added.

It is expected that 160 people will be working on-site at the peak of construction around the middle of 2013.
