ABB wins $15m order to strengthen grid reliability in Norway

ABB has won an order worth approximately $15m from leading European utility, Statnett to supply and install substation automation systems to support a new power line being installed between Ørskog and Fardal on the west coast of Norway.

The new line is being constructed to strengthen the grid in a region where industrial growth is driving the demand for reliable power. The order was booked in the first quarter.

“Our advanced substation automation systems will help monitor, control and protect the power network thereby improving efficiency and enhance grid reliability”, said Jens Birgersson, head of ABB’s Network Management business within the company’s Power Systems division.

“They will also help maximize power availability and optimize maintenance costs”.
