Gazprom announces Russia’s most powerful CCGT unit

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, has attended the inauguration event for the launch of the 800 MW three-turbine unit, considered as the most powerful in Russia.

EnergyMarketPrice online reports that the Kirishskaya CCGT, located at 150 km southeast of St. Petersburg, is operated by Gazprom’s subsidiary OGK-2 and has a total installed capacity of 2100 MW.

Russia has the largest amount of natural gas reserves in the world – about 50 trillion cubic meters and it envisages further exploration of the Arctic basin, which according to Putin, remains a mandatory activity.
