Brazil home to Latin America’s new hydro tech facility

Alstom confirmed it had placed the corner stone of its future hydropower Global Technology Centre for Latin America, located in Taubate in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.

The technology centre is on the site of French company’s biggest hydro manufacturing facility, with capacity to produce all electromechanical equipment for hydroelectric plants in Brazil, as well as for projects abroad.

The centre will have a special focus on Kaplan power plants and it will include “a state-of-the-art test stand for turbine models” that is scheduled to be inaugurated in mid-2013.

The Global Technology Centre will be able to contribute to the development of technological solutions for projects all over the world and, in particular, for Latin America, Alstom confirmed.
