Costa Rica to hold 200 MW capacity auction

Local energy authorities in Costa Rica are preparing an auction for close to 200 MW to be held during the first six months of this year, including hydroelectric and wind power projects, Energias Renovables reports.

The Costa Rican Institute of Electricity currently has 24 contracts with private companies for the generation of 194.6 MW.

"We have 11 registered hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 42.5 MW and seven wind farm projects that would generate 129 MW," the institute's president Gravin Mayorga confirmed.
