Alstom secures $13m contract in Colombia

Alstom Grid has consolidated its presence in Colombia through securing two contracts worth around $13m for the delivery of two turnkey substations.

The company has received the first contract from power generator and distributor Electrificadora del Huila to supply a new turnkey gas-insulated substation in the city of Neiva and to extend two existing ones to close the 115kV ring of Neiva.

The new 115kV power substation will be commissioned in November of this year.

Alstom Grid has secured the second contract from Ecopetrol for the delivery and engineering of the Araguaney 115kV gas-insulated substation, with the project completion expected in March 2013.

Alstom Colombia country president Juan Celis said the two contracts consolidate the company's presence in the Latin American market, where it has operated for more than 50 years and, in particular, in Colombia, a country with great possibility of growth in the power area.
