Lebanon power production boosted to 1500 MW

Electricite du Liban (EDL) has announced it had completed the maintenance work on the first gas turbine at the Zahrani power plant which in principle should beef up the electricity supply to 1500 MW.

“This [step] will add another 210 MW to the power grid and increase supply to 1500 MW. This will reflect as more electricity to most regions of Lebanon,” the statement by EDL said.

However, EDL made it clear that even with the additional 210 MW, Lebanon still needs more to meet the growing needs of the entire country.

It added that consumption exceeds 2400 MW during the day while the current production is only 1500 MW.
