Energisa snaps up IPP for $11.7m

Energisa, a Brazilian power holding company, has agreed to buy 100 per cent of independent power producer (IPP) Cristina Energia for $11.7m, ADP Renewable Energy Track reports.

The deal includes the liabilities of Cristina Energia, according to Energisa.

Cristina Energia controls and operates the 3.8 MW Cristina hydroelectric power plant in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

Cristina Energia, as an independent power producer, is able to sell and distribute its surplus energy to large consumers by paying the concessionaires for the use of their transmission lines.
