By Editors of Power Engineering

NextEra Energy Resources and WPPI Energy announced plans to construct a 100-MW solar energy center, which would be the largest in Wisconsin.

The upcoming Point Beach Solar Energy Center is slated for construction on land adjacent to the Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Rivers. It is scheduled to come online in 2021.

WPPI has a 20-year power purchase agreement for electricity from the center, which would be used at its 51 member utilities across Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and Iowa.
