LaSalle Nuclear Unit 2 Taken Offline for Obstruction

By Editors of Power Engineering

Exelon announced it had taken LaSalle Nuclear’s Unit 2 offline this week to inspect an obstructed valve on the unit’s turbine generator.

All systems responded as designed. Technicians will address the blockage and thoroughly test the system before returning the unit to service. Unit 1 remains at full power.

LaSalle, 75 miles southwest of Chicago, has a capacity of 2,300 MW and was built in 1984. It was recently granted license extensions through 2043.
