Hawaiian Electric has issued an RFP for onshore wind developments on Oahu, the state’s most populous island.

To qualify, projects need to generate 5 MW or more, enter commercial operations by the end of 2022 and submit plans for community relations outreach and any environmental benefits. The deadline for submission is January 31st.

The utility hopes to generate 100 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2045.
