Leclanché to Provide 20-MW Storage System for PJM Interconnection

By Editors of Power Engineering

Leclanché SA announced they have been selected by Swiss Green Electricity Management Group to provide a battery energy storage system for PJM Interconnection.

The 20-MW storage project, named the Marengo Energy Storage Plant, will be connected to the Commonwealth Edison Company electric grid and provide real-time frequency regulation services to PJM. The facility will respond almost instantly to the continually-changing needs of the grid, providing more reliable electrical services to users in 13 states and the district of Columbia.

Marengo Energy Storage Plant will be Leclanché’s first project in the United States following a project win in Canada earlier this year.
