E.ON Begins Construction of 278-MW Wind Facility

By Editors of Power Engineering

E.ON has officially begun construction of the Radford’s Run Wind Farm in Macon County, Illinois.

Once completed at the end of 2017, the project will be the second-largest wind facility in the state.

Vestas will supply 139 of the two-MW turbines for the 278-MW development.

Dow Jones Business News indicated the company will spend $500 on the project.

Additionally, E.ON announced Johnson & Johnson will purchase 100 MW from the 200-MW Colbeck’s Corner wind power facility in the Texas Panhandle via a 12-year agreement.

Colbeck’s Corner will provide 60 percent of Johnson & Johnson’s electricity consumption in the U.S., and 25 percent globally.

E.ON was also selected to provide asset management for Lincoln Clean Energy’s Amazon Wind Farm Texas near Snyder, Texas. That 253-MW facility will sell 90 percent of its power to Amazon.
