CNNC’s Fuqing Unit 3 Enters Commercial Operation

By Editors of Power Engineering

The China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC)  reported on Monday that Unit 3 of its Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant in China’s Fujian Province has completed the necessary commissioning tests to enter into commercial operation. The unit recently completed a 168-hour test run.

Fuquing’s functioning units now have a combined operating capacity of 3.27 GW.

The three completed units of the Fuqing plant represent only half of the facility’s planned progress. Unit 4 of the plant is currently nearing completion and expected to begin operation in 2017. Also under construction are Units 5 and 6, which are scheduled for commissioning in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

China Nuclear Power Company, a subsidiary of CNNC, is majority owner of the Fuqing plant.
