Canadian Solar Sells Stake in 191-MW Brazil Project

By Editors of Power Engineering

Canadian Solar Inc. has sold its 80 percent stake in a 191.5-MW solar project in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The report from analyst firm Zacks indicates Canadian Solar sold its stake in Pirapora I to EDF EN do Brazil, an affiliate of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

The project is slated to begin production in the third quarter of 2017, and it already has a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Even after the sale of its stake, Canadian Solar will provide materials for the project from its new factory in Brazil.
