NRC Says LaSalle Nuclear License Renewals OK to Move Ahead

LaSalle Nuclear Plant in Illinois

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said there are no issues that preclude renewing operating licenses at the LaSalle 1 and 2 Nuclear Plant in Illinois.

The NRC’s supplemental environmental impact statement contains the staff’s conclusion that any impacts do not impede renewing the licenses. NRC’s review consists of a technical safety review and the environmental review. The final supplemental impact statement is supplement 57 to NUREG-1437.

Plant operator Exelon (NYSE: EXC) submitted the 20-year license renewal application on Dec. 9, 2014 for the two boiling water reactors.
