SNC-Lavalin, Aecon JV to Provide Nuclear Services at Darlington Refurb Project

SNC-Lavalin said its joint venture with Aecon Group was awarded two nuclear services contracts by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station in Ontario, Canada.

OPG awarded a C$265 million ($203 million) contract to refurbish all four 935-MW steam turbine generators at the plant, along with overhauls of the generators and moisture separator re-heaters, condenser repairs and implementation of new controls systems. The work will be split 40 percent to SNC-Lavalin and 60 percent to Aecon. Work has already started and is set for completion in 2025.

The second contract, worth C$127 million ($97.3 million), is for the engineering, procurement and construction of the Retube Waste Processing Building. The work is split evenly between the two companies and is expected to be completed in 2017.

This past January, the joint venture was awarded a C$2.75 billion ($2.1 billion) contract to carry out the execution phase of its Retube and Feeder Replacement project for the Darlington refurbishment program.
