ENEC completes electrical work at Barakah Unit 1 in UAE

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corp. (ENEC) has completed major electrical installation work at Unit 1 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The completion of major electrical installation work at Unit 1 represents another milestone in the continued progress from construction to commissioning of the plant. Teams from ENEC and Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) installed and inspected more than 454 pieces of electrical equipment such as switchgears, motor control centers, and transformers.

Unit 1 is now more than 87 percent complete, and all four units are more than 65 percent complete. Unit 1 is scheduled for completion in 2017.
