Pattern Development, GPI completes Kanagi solar PV project in Japan

U.S.-based Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern Development) and Green Power Investment Corp. (GPI) completed a 14-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power project in Shimane prefecture of Japan.

The companies jointly developed and built the Kanagi Solar power facility, and GE Energy Financial Services (NYSE: GE) maintains an ownership stake in the plant. Kanagi Solar has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Chugoku Electric Power Co. for 100 percent of the output from the facility. Kyocera Solar Corp. provided the PV solar panels. Kyocera Communication Systems managed construction and will manage operations and maintenance of the solar PV plant.

In March, Pattern Development and GPI completed the Futtsu Solar project, a 42-MW solar power facility in Japan’s Chiba prefecture.
