Switzerland-based energy storage provider Leclanché S.A. announced that it has established a North American subsidiary to capitalize on the growing energy storage market in the U.S. and Canada.
The North American subsidiary will be headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Bryan Urban will be executive vice president of the new subsidiary. Urban has more than 25 years of experience in the power generation and energy infrastructure sectors in the Americas and Asia/Pacific and has been on the board of directors of Leclanché since 2013. The company has also established an engineering and technology center in Anderson, Indiana.
Leclanché received a $28.9 million purchase order to deliver one of the world’s largest stationary storage systems to Independent Electricity System Operator in Ontario. The order covers the battery storage system and power conversion equipment for the project. The company has partnered with Deltro Energy, which will design, procure and construct the site facilities, balance of plant and high voltage connections to the grid.
