Fortistar to Buy Castleton Power Plant in New York

Fortistar signed a purchase and sale agreement with Castleton Energy Center LLC to acquire a 72-MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in New York.

The Castleton Energy Center uses six General Electric (NYSE: GE) Frame 6 gas turbines and dispatches into the NYISO Zone F. Fortistar already owns and operates two other combined-cycle plants in New York: The 221-MW Lockport Energy Associates plant and the 55-MW North Tonawanda facility. These projects dispatch into NYISO Zone A and also use the GE Frame 6 turbines. Fortistar also owns a 6-MW landfill gas plant in Albany, New York. Scotia Capital served as exclusive financial advisor to Castleton Energy Center LLC.
