Silicon Ranch Corp Commissions Solar Field in Arkansas

Silicon Ranch Corp will commission its 100-acre solar field tomorrow, according to a press release issued by the company.

The 12-MW array was constructed by Silicon Ranch in the Highland Industrial Park in East Camden, Arkansas. The facility will be owned and operated by the company, and will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 2,400 homes.

Aerojet Rocketdyne, a manufacturer of propulsion motors for Lockheed Martin’s Patriot missile system, will purchase the power to run its 1,200-acre production facility in East Camden. Excess energy will be released to Arkansas Electric Cooperation Corporation and dispatched to the wholesale power market.

Ouachita Electric Cooperative Corporation assisted in the project, providing technical support and expertise in power production and delivery.
