NextEra Energy Resources Inks Solar Development Deal with American Municipal Power

American Municipal Power Inc. (AMP) has announced a joint development agreement with DG AMP Solar LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, providing the framework for development, construction and operation of 80 MW or more of new solar generation.

AMP is a public power agency with 131 member communities in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.  It also has one joint action agency in Delaware, the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC).

The solar facilities will be located in AMP member communities in Delware, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

A NextEra Energy Resources affiliate will develop, construct, own and operate the facilities, selling the energy to AP for resale to its members under long-term power purchase agreements.  Sites in Delaware will be developed by DEMEC on behalf of its member municipal systems.

To date, AMP has identified 28 potential projects and expects more may be added.
