First Solar EPC Group Surpasses 6 GW of Installed Capacity Worldwide

First Solar Inc. says its engineering, procurement and construction group has surpassed 6 GW of installed capacity around the world.

Alan Stringer, vice president of Global Project Management and Construction Services, says First Solar installs about 30 to 40 MW per week on 2 GW of active projects.

He says the company’s “manufacturing in the field” concept helps drive down balance of systems costs for customers.

First Solar’s inaugural EPC project was in 2008 with the 10-MW El Dorado Solar Project in Nevada, featuring 220,000 First Solar photovoltaic modules.

In 2015, First Solar completed the 550-MW Desert Sunlight Solar Project and the 550-MW Topaz Solar Farms, each with more than 8 million modules.
