Westinghouse Awards Fluor Nuclear Workforce Management Subcontracts

Fluor Corp. (NYSE: FLR) was awarded two subcontracts by Westinghouse Electric Co. to manage the workforce at two nuclear new build projects in Georgia and South Carolina.
Fluor will manage the majority of construction labor as the prime engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor at Georgia Power’s Plant Vogtle 3 & 4 in Georgia, and at the Summer 2 & 3 project in South Carolina, co-owned by SCANA and Santee Cooper. All four reactors are Westinghouse AP1000 units.
“We look forward to working with Westinghouse as one team to complete the construction of these two U.S. nuclear mega-projects,” said David Seaton, Fluor’s chairman and chief executive officer. “These projects reconfirm our commitment to the nuclear power industry and are in line with our strategy to expand our construction footprint. We share the vision with Westinghouse, Georgia Power and SCANA/Santee Cooper that nuclear power matters to the future of clean energy.”
Fluor is helping to quickly transition construction responsibilities, as well as the craft labor and a significant portion of the existing field staff workforce from the previous EPC contractor, Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I, NYSE: CBI). CB&I sold its nuclear construction business to Westinghouse for $229 million.
