PSEG Solar Source Acquires Large-Scale Projects in California, Utah

PSEG Solar Source has acquired two new utility-scale projects from the engineering, procurement and construction contractor juwi Inc., which will operate both solar facilities upon completion.

A 62.7-MW project in Millard County, Utah – PSEG Pavant II Solar Energy Center – is being constructed about 110 miles south of Salt Lake City.  Upon completion, the Pavant II project will be Solar Source’s largest solar facility, capable of producing twice the clean energy as any other Solar Source project.

“We are pleased to be building our second large-scale solar project in the state of Utah and our first one in California,” said Mike Martin, juwi’s president and CEO.  “Our partnership with PSEG Solar Source has been tremendously successful over the years, and we are proud that companies like PSEG continue to dedicate significant resources and efforts to the renewable energy industry.”

A 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) is in place with PacifiCorp.  The project is expected to enter commercial operation by year’s end.

A 2.9-MW project is being built on the grounds of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory about 45 miles east of San Francisco in Livermore, California.  The PSEG Lawrence Livermore Solar Energy Center is scheduled to enter service in the first quarter of 2016.

The Western Area Power Authority (WAPA), one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s power marketing authorities, has a 20-year PPA for the facility’s output.

PSEG Solar Source’s latest acquisitions represent a nearly $110 million investment and increases the company’s portfolio to 214.6 MW.
