EDF Delays Decision on Hinkley Point C Nuclear Project

EDF Energy delayed a decision on construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in the U.K. despite receiving funding from China.
The French utility is reportedly having trouble attracting more investors to the dual-unit project and have asked the French government to help find more, according to The Guardian. China’s state nuclear company CGN purchased a 33.5 percent stake in the project in October 2015. A decision is now expected at the next board meeting in February.
The opening of Hinkley Point has been pushed back to 2025. Construction is scheduled to begin once financing is finalized.
