ABB Introduces Four-Pole Generators For Turbines

ABB, located at POWER-GEN International in booth #3448, is introducing a new 1400 frame size synchronous generator to expand its proven AMS platform. Covering the power range from 60 to 85 MVA at voltages from 3 to 15 kV, the new 4-pole generators enable higher unit powers and more economical genset designs.

Advances in manufacturing technology - resulting from ABB’s R&D work - have made it possible to increase the power levels of the proven AMS 4-pole generator platform. The 4-pole generators offer many important benefits over their large 2-pole alternatives, including compact size, lower weight, better efficiency, higher inertia, shorter delivery time, lower running costs and simplified maintenance. They are also more reliable in demanding start-stop mode as they operate below the critical vibration speed area, unlike 2-pole generators that must always run through it on every start.

Caterpillar Adds 570 kVA Mobile Generator Set to Lineup of Rental Power Products Meeting Tier 4 Final Emissions Standards

Caterpillar Inc. on Wednesday announced the launch of the Cat® XQ570, the company's latest rental diesel generator set in a series of products engineered to meet Tier 4 Final emissions standards. Rated for prime power at 570 kVA or 625 kVA standby at 60 Hz, the mobile generator set is suitable for all markets and designed for greater portability, lower noise levels and highly efficient voltage changes.
The robust Cat XQ570 is powered by the four-stroke Cat C18 ATAAC industrial diesel engine, which combines consistent performance and improved fuel economy with minimum weight while meeting U.S. Tier 4 Final emission standards.
Following the recently released Cat XQ375, the newest offering is targeted for mid-sized rental power needs throughout the U.S. and Canada, especially in locations with stringent local government regulations. Caterpillar is committed to expanding its offering meeting Tier 4 Final emissions standards to include mobile generator sets with ratings from 35 kVA to 570 kVA.
