Peach Bottom 2 Nuclear Unit Taken Offline for Repairs

The Peach Bottom nuclear Unit 2 in Pennsylvania was removed from service for inspection and repairs.
Unit 2 was taken offline early Monday morning so workers could inspect and repair a steam valve. Due to the location of the valve, the repairs could not be performed while the unit is operating. Once the repairs are completed and final testing is done, the unit will be returned to serviced. Unit 3 continues to operate at full power.
The two boiling water reactors generate 2,700-MW of electricity, and have both been in operation since 1974.
