 Talen Energy Buys Natural Gas-Fired Power Plants, Sells Renewable Unit

Talen Energy Corp. completed the acquisition of MACH Gen LLC and the sale of Talen Renewable Energy LLC.
 
The $1.175 billion MACH Gen acquisition adds three combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plants totaling more than 2,500 MW of generating capacity to Talen Energy’s fleet. The power plants are located in New York, Massachusetts and Arizona.
 
California-based Energy Power Partners purchased Talen Renewable Energy, which includes 25 clean power projects in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont and New Hampshire with a nameplate generating capacity of 65 MW.
 
With the closing of the deals, Talen Energy owns or controls about 17,600-MW of generating capacity, not including announced divestitures of 1,400 MW expected to close in first quarter 2016.
