MHPS, KOSPO Working Together on Thermal Energy Project

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd. (MHPS) signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Southern Power Co. Ltd. (KOSPO) to exchange technology and research on thermal energy.

The exchanges are to promote technical collaboration and joint research between MHPS and KOSPO, and also call for technical liaison with Korea’s Yonsei University with which KOSPO already exchanges information.

The two entities have worked on projects in the past, including an order for a 47-MW natural gas-fired turbine combined-cycle power generation system that builds on MHPS’ M501J gas turbine for installation at KOSPO’s Youngnam Natural Gas Power Plant.

KOSPO is a power-providing subsidiary of state-owned power utility Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO).
