Burns & McDonnell is partnering with ARB Inc. to develop a combined heat and power (CHP) facility in southern California to serve large oil refinery.
The two will design the CHP, also known as cogeneration, facility and provide complete procurement and construction management services.
The natural gas-fired project will feature a GE LM2500 gas turbine engine, supplying up to 33 MW of power in addition to process steam to augment the existing steam supply for the oil refinery process.
The engineering design is currently underway while construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2016. The project should be operational by the third quarter of 2017.
ARB is a division of Primoris Services Corporation.
