175-MW Illinois Wind Project Begins Commericial Operations

EDF Renewable Energy has started commercial operations at its new 175-MW wind project in Illinois.
The Pilot Hill Wind Project will supply 100 percent of the energy needs of Microsoft’s data center in Illinois through a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Construction on the 103 General Electric (GE) wind turbines began in September 2014, and commercial operations began a year later.
EDF Renewable Services will provide balance-of-plant operations and maintenance for the facility including round-the-clock remote monitoring from its Operations Control Center.
