Solar Frontier, the world’s largest copper, indium and selenium (CIS) solar energy developer, has sold a 15-MW photovoltaic (PV) solar project to Turner Renewable Energy, a renewable energy investor in the U.S., and Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company.

The Morelos del Sol project will be constructed in Kern County, California using 111,744 CIS modules mounted on single-axis trackers.

Project developer Solar Frontier Americas Development initiated construction of the project in July, with commercial operation expected to commence in late November.
