Ormat, Toshiba to Collaborate on Geothermal Power

Ormat Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ORA) and Toshiba Corp. signed a strategic collaboration agreement to work together on geothermal power systems and related equipment.
Under the agreement, the companies will develop strategic opportunities to offer supplies and services to potential geothermal energy customers. Those services include resource assessment, field development, power plant engineering, procurement and construction to power plant operation.
The first project to be implemented under the agreement is the Menengai geothermal project in Kenya to be built by a consortium of Ormat, Symbion Power LLC and Civicon Ltd. The project is in advanced stage planning and will use a geothermal solution consisting of Ormat’s binary system and Toshiba’s flash system.
