 First Solar, Austin Energy Sign PPA for East Pecos Solar Project

First Solar, Inc. has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with municipally-owned Austin Energy allowing the utility to purchase power generated at First Solar’s 119-MW AC East Pecos Solar Project in Pecos County, Texas.
The solar facility will begin construction in early 2016, with commercial operation expected later that year. Once operational, East Pecos will generate about 300 million kWh of energy every year, sufficient to power 27,000 homes in the Austin area.
The facility will generate power using very little water, a highly-prized commodity in the arid portions of Texas.
