 Contractor Prepping Land for DTE Energy Ohio Wind Farm

Workers are preparing land in Ohio’s Chandler, Oliver and Colfax townships for a new wind farm.

DTE Energy contractor Aristeo Construction is currently surveying the land, collecting and analyzing soil samples and establishing an area for storing equipment, materials and office trailers.

DTE Energy plans to install 30 of GE’s 1.7-MW wind turbines, which stand 315 feet in the air and feature about 160-foot blades.

Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2016, though site plans are not finalized. The turbines are proposed for near DTE Energy's Echo Wind Park in Chandler and Oliver townships.

The project is a redo of one slated for Meade Township in 2015 but residents ultimately voted against it.
