Chinese Turbine Manufacturer Buys 600-MW Mexican Wind Portfolio, Plans to Develop 1.5 GW New Capacity by 2020

China's Envision Energy buys controlling stake of 600-MW wind portfolio in Mexico

China’s Envision Energy has acquired a controlling stake in a 600-MW Mexican wind portfolio.  The financial terms of the deal with ViveEnergia have not been disclosed.

Construction on the projects is slated for 2016. while operations are expected to begin by the end of that year.  ViveEnergia retains the right to develop the projects.

Envision Energy, a manufacturer of low-speed wind turbines, has partnered with ViveEnergia to develop 1,500 MW of new wind capacity by 2020 – this after the Mexican government set a target to source 24 percent of the country’s total electricity from renewable technologies by 2024.
