Xcel Energy Breaks Ground on 200-MW Wind Farm in North Dakota

Construction is underway on a 100-turbine wind farm south of Courtenay, North Dakota.

Xcel Energy purchased the project from Minnesota’s Geronimo Energy.  The 200-MW wind farm is expected to produce enough electricity to power about 105,000 homes annually.

More than 60 landowners leased 25,000 acres to Xcel for the $300 million wind farm.

Construction is slated for completion by the end of 2016.
