Korea, UAE organizations team on nuclear reactor safety

The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) and the UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the field of nuclear safety with a focus on light water nuclear reactors.
The MOU is aimed at strengthening the cooperation between the two organizations in the exchange of general, scientific or technological information, such as thermal-hydraulic experiments, safety analysis, risk assessment and management, severe accident and environmental and safety evaluation. The countries would also share the results of research and development on specific topics, short- and long-term visits by specialists, engineers and other staff.
KAERI is operating various facilities for APR1400 safety verification and many FANR experts had visited KAERI, and FANR is one of the organizations participating at the OECD/NEA international joint collaboration ATLAS Project using the ATLAS facility at KAERI.
