The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has named several new executives for the company’s grid and market operations.
Woody Rickerson, director of Grid Coordination for ERCOT, is the new vice president of Grid Planning and Operations, while Kenan Ogelman, director of Energy Market Policy at CPS Energy, is the new vice president of Commercial Operations.
"These two new executives bring considerable depth in their respective areas to these key roles, and I am confident they will help ERCOT continue its tradition of successful grid and market operations," said ERCOT CEO Trip Doggett.
Rickerson has been with ERCOT since 2000 and was involved in the development of tools used to operate the grid since the creation of the ERCOT zonal market system.
A licensed professional engineer, Rickerson has also worked for utilities in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
Ogelman previously chaired ERCOT’s Technical Advisory Committee and served as senior economist for the Texas Office of Public Utility Counsel, which represents Texas’ residential electric consumers.
Ogelman is currently the president of the Gulf Coast Power Association. He also taught economics at the University of Texas – Arlington and St. Edwards University.
Also filling a new position is ERCOT chief of staff Jeyant Tamby who will serve as interim chief operating officer after Brad Jones becomes CEO of New York ISO in October.
Tamby, with a broad range of experience in the electric industry, played a key role in the development of ERCOT’s energy and market systems, according to a company release.
