A technician for one the west’s largest providers of power generation systems has been named Technician of the Year by the Electrical Generating Systems Association.
Collicutt Energy Services’ Mark Michaelson is just the second recipient of the much-coveted TOYA award, which honors the EGSA-certified generator technician who has gone above and beyond in the on-site power industry in 2015.
“Mark is a recognizable leader in the power generation industry and has always strived to exceed the highest level of honesty, integrity, professionalism and accountability,” said David Brown, Collicutt Energy Services Inc. president.
Generator technicians like Michaelson are responsible for servicing, maintaining and selling parts for power generation systems as well as providing customer assurance.
“Mark has worked on a number of emergency situation projects including the failure of power at a 911 call center," said Brown. "When Mark arrived at the scene, he found that the generator had failed to start. Working through the night, Mark systematically diagnosed a series of compound failure modes and restored the unit to full operating capacity. With his elite skill, ability and perseverance, Mark was able to serve one of the biggest metropolises in the world and more importantly, repair the 'lifeline' to many.”
Candidates for the TOYA award must be employed by an EGSA member company in good standing, must be EGSA certified and must be a first-time winner. The TOYA Award recipient is honored during EGSA’s fall conference in September.
